About the Club
The Taranaki Cavy Group (TCG) is the only guinea pig club based in Taranaki, bringing together guinea pig owners, breeders, exhibitors, and enthusiasts from across the region. The club was established in 2008 and provides a welcoming space for people who enjoy showing cavies, learning more about guinea pig care and breeding, and connecting with others in the cavy community.
Opportunities to show and connect
TCG holds shows in conjunction with the New Zealand Cavy Club (NZCC) and Hamilton and Waikato Guinea Pig Club. These events give exhibitors the chance to enter multiple shows, spend time with other guinea pig enthusiasts, and enjoy a supportive and social show environment.

Open to individuals, families, and junior members
Membership is available for a range of exhibitors and supporters, making it easy for people of all ages to get involved with the club. Fees are $10 for Single membership, $15 for Family membership, and $5 for Junior membership for those under 16 years old.
Show Venues
Shows are held at venues including Hillsborough Hall, Egmont Road, New Plymouth, and Coley Street School in Foxton. When clubs hold shows together, both events take place at the same venue, making it easier for members and exhibitors to attend and take part in more than one show in a single day.
Key people to contact
The club is supported by dedicated committee members who help organise shows and keep the group running smoothly throughout the year. The current President is Pat Hardcastle and the Secretary is Isabel Carter.
Entry Forms
Entry forms are available to download for upcoming shows and events, making it easy for exhibitors to prepare and submit their entries. Current forms include the NZCC/TCG Show Entry Form and the Nationwide Show Entry Form.
