Shows and Events

Opportunities to show and connect

The Hamilton & Waikato Area Guinea Pig Club runs both main show and pet show sections. Main show judging occurs in the morning and pet show judging later in the day, with time allowed for longhair grooming and extra support for pet owners who may need help getting their guinea pigs ready, such as nail trimming. Club shows may also include extras such as a kitchen, retail items, raffles, and guinea pig sales, helping to create a full and welcoming day out for exhibitors and visitors alike.

About Us
Friendly, welcoming, and focused on fun

The club is proud to be a family-friendly and social community where members can enjoy showing in a relaxed and enjoyable environment. It is all about helping people have a great time with their animals while learning more about exhibition, care, and presentation.

Whether members are involved in pedigree showing, enjoy entering pet classes, or simply want to learn more about cavies, the club offers a way to connect with others in the Waikato region and be part of the wider cavy community. It is a place where people can enjoy their guinea pigs, build confidence in showing, and take part in a hobby that is both rewarding and enjoyable.

Judging Information

Judging and Show Standards

The Hamilton & Waikato Area Guinea Pig Club supports showing under recognised New Zealand Cavy Judges Association (NZCJA) standards, helping to ensure a fair and consistent approach across pedigree classes. These standards provide a clear framework for judging and give exhibitors confidence that cavies are assessed against established breed expectations and show practices. By following recognised judging standards, the club helps support quality exhibition, good sportsmanship, and equal opportunity for exhibitors taking part.
