An Independent Club In Whangārei
The Northern Rabbit and Cavy Club was formed in 2011 in Whangārei, Northland, for people who enjoy exhibiting their guinea pigs (cavies) and rabbits in both pedigree and pet shows. The club provides a welcoming space for exhibitors of all ages and experience levels, whether they are just starting out or have been involved in showing for years.
Opportunities to show and connect
The Northern Rabbit and Cavy Club holds a mix of pedigree and pet shows for both guinea pigs and rabbits. Club events are designed to be enjoyable and inclusive, with opportunities for exhibitors to take part in a range of show experiences. Members and visitors can also enjoy special elements such as Fancy Dress competitions, alongside the regular pet and pedigree sections.
Friendly, welcoming, and focused on fun
The club is proud to be a family-friendly and social community where members can enjoy showing in a relaxed and enjoyable environment. It is all about helping people have a great time with their animals while learning more about exhibition, care, and presentation. Showing guinea pigs or rabbits can be a rewarding, challenging, and fun hobby, and it offers a great way to bond with your pets, keep a close eye on their health, and work towards ribbons, prizes, titles, and championship points together.
Judging and Show Standards
Club shows are held under the rules and standards of the New Zealand Cavy Judges Association (NZCJA), helping to ensure a fair and consistent showing experience. This gives members confidence that events are run to recognised standards while remaining enjoyable and accessible for both new and experienced exhibitors.

Show Venues
Shows are held at St John’s Golden Church, Kamo Road, Kensington, Whangārei. A gold coin donation at entry is appreciated.

20 June 2026 – Pedigree and Pet Show for rabbits and guinea pigs

The Northern Rabbit and Cavy Club welcomes new members who would like to get involved in showing, learn more about guinea pigs and rabbits, and be part of the local club community.
Annual membership fees:
Adult: $15
Family: $20
Kids (under 15 years): $10
A membership form can be completed and sent to the club.
